Hong Kong Toy Shopping: In's Point, Richmond 111 & Fuk Wing St.

I have to say, Hong Kong is an even more amazing toy destination than I had previously experienced, or even imagined. This year I had the pleasure of revisiting, and with the help of Shaun Wong's awesome guide, I was able to explore all of the hidden toy treasures Hong Kong has to offer. The highlight of the trip, hands down, had to be In's Point. This hidden-away gem, is a retail complex that houses one of the greatest concentrations of all things toy-related I have ever seen. Check it, and these other awesome toy spots out!
In's Point

In's Point is definitely a must-visit spot if you're in Hong Kong. It's located on Nathan Rd, a landmark site for those who don't know. Think Times Square in New York or Tokyo's Shibuya, just spread out over a long distance and surrounded by unique neighborhood's, offering varying shopping experiences. Exact location is 530-538 Nathan Road, Hong Kong. Just take the escalator or elevator (depending on which entrance you come in through) up to the 1st floor (2nd floor has toy shops too). The brightly lit metallic sign is impossible to miss. I won't say anymore just check out these pics.

Mmm...Retrrro

That last pic has to be my favorite. I just love how the Hulk is standing tall among all these little Ultra's. As you can see the variety here is great. They have everything from simple vintage toys to modern day super high tech 1/6 scale, American, Japananese, DC, Marvel, and it goes on and on. Most notable of the items I spotted, had to be a Toybiz Deadpool (sorry no pics). Unfortunately, he was just too pricey (40 USD/no accessories), but I did pick up these kick-ass Young Justice Batman and Robin figs.

Richmond 111

Similar to In's Point, is Richmond 111, another toy mall of sorts. This is another commercial building that is home to 3 levels of toy shopping bliss. In my opinion, the best stuff is located in the basement. Also, check out the 1st and 2nd levels just in case. Similar stuff to In's point can be found here. Be sure to browse around for the best deals. The exact location is Richmond Commercial Bldg, 107-111 Argyle Street,Hong Kong (3 blocks east of Mong Kok MTR station).

Clever Creations
Aww isn't he cute!
Richmond is also where I picked up this guy. One of the highlights of my entire collection, this loose Sota Street Fighter Ryu was a rare find that brought such great excitement. He was without accessories, but still a top notch figure all the way, rare and in good shape.

Fuk Wing Street
Last but not least, is Fuk Wing Street. This is located in the Northern Territories, north of Mong Kok and closer to mainland China. The main reason to come here, is for discount American toys, chiefly, Mattel DCUC figures. I actually saw quite a few of the DC Young Justice Batmans here, and they were cheaper than In's Point! I felt a bit ripped off at first, but it really wasn't that much once I converted to USD. Overall, DC is the most prevalent, but you will see some Marvel stuff, as well as Transformers and DBZ. The area is also good for discount Sanrio merchandise and souvenirs. Be sure to shop around a bit for the best deal, but keep track of where you see things that you like, as all the stores look the same.

Check out this sweet find, Kyle Rainer-Blue Lantern. I also saw several Yellow Lantern Corps-Hal Jordan figures, but was unable to find one with good paint aps. That's another thing to note, many figures here have minor defects or missing accessories, so dig through the pegs for the best finds.

Well I hope you enjoyed this post. I certainly enjoyed writing it and reliving this awesome trip. If you ever get the chance I highly recommend visiting any one of these locations. Hong Kong is definitely a toy collector's dream come true, and I feel very fortunate to have explored it in further detail. Check back soon, as I will be posting on my full Asia toy haul, with some sweet finds from the Philippines!
